A nostalgic name that transports you to the capital of Syria, Damascus. The owner, Mohamad Habanakeh, grew up in the culinary heart of this city. Unfortunately, Mohamad had to flee Syria in 2015 due to the civil war. He married Anouk a few years later in the Netherlands. Mohamad had to get used to many things in the Netherlands, except the food. That’s why Mohamad and Anouk decided to start selling mezze from their home in Eindhoven at the end of 2020. From this small kitchen, Memories of Damascus was born. The company was growing rapidly, and more space was needed. Anouk and Mohamad rented a small warehouse in Eindhoven and shortly afterward moved with Memories of Damascus to a professional production kitchen in Best. In this production kitchen, which covers more than 200 m2, fresh mezze, meals, and Arabic sweets are made every day for caterings, from parties to catering for asylum seekers’ centers.
