The owner of Memories of Damascus, Mohamad Habanakeh, grew up in the culinary heart of this city, in a neighborhood called “Al Midan.” Al Midan is well-known among Syrians for its many restaurants. Midan’s bustling market, “Midan Souq,” is a feast for the eyes and the stomach. From baklava to Syrian shawarma, you’ll find everything there.
